CMU recruits make push for playoffs

ChippewaCountry.com We take a look a how some of Central Michigan's commits for 2010 faired on the gridiron last Friday and where their respective teams are in the hunt for playoffs.
RB Ben Brown, Romeo (MI)
-Brown had 15 carries for 42 yards and one touchdown as Romeo ran into the buzzsaw known as Sterling Heights Stevenson, losing 42-7. Romeo now sits at 6-3 (3-2) and may run into SHS in the first round of playoffs.

TE/DE Joe Wirth, Utica Eisenhower (MI)
-Eisenhower picked up a huge win over Macomb Dakota 24-8, their first over Dakota in years. With added 10 tackles and a forced fumble in the victory as Eisenhower improved to 5-3 and can clinch a birth into playoffs with a victory this week.

LB Nores Fradi, Dearborn (MI)
-Facing a must win against Redford Thurston, Dearborn snatched a victory 21-14 and improved to 5-3 overall with a showdown against 5-3 Highland Park this Friday. Fradi added double digit tackles with 16.
Next Game: Highland Park
WR Montrel Robinson, Southfield Lathrup (MI)
-Had three catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-28 victory over Rochester. Robinson also had one carry for 7 yards. Southfield Lathrup is now 4-4 on the season and unlikely to make playoffs.
Next Game: Southfield
QB Dwight Macon, Steubenville (OH)
-Macon and the Big got a 24-13 victory over Poland Seminary in a battle of unbeatens. Macon completed 10-12 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns and assed 30 yards rushing. Steubenville is now 8-0 on the season and welcome Devin Gardner (Michigan commit) and Inkster for their season finale.

DL Andy Phillips, Waverly (MI)
-Phillips and his Waverly squad continued their tough season as they fell to Flushing 49-2. Phillips has been limited to just defense all year due to a nagging shoulder injury and that has been a major reason why the Warriors have only one win all season.

PROSPECTS
WR D.J. Mershman, Sterling Heights Stevenson (MI)
-As mentioned above, his Stevenson squad remained undefeated and ranked No. 1 after blowing out Romeo 42-7. All Mershman did was snag nine receptions for 198 yards and a touchdown, not bad for a player without a Division 1 offer. Oh, and he intercepted a pass on defense.
