November 3, 2012Chippewa senior quarterback Ryan Radcliff addressed the media after Saturday's tough loss to arch-rival Western Michigan.
On the offensive performanceFor the most part, things were clicking on offense today. We only had a couple three and outs. Like coach mentioned, we have to capitalize when we get in the redzone. We can't be kicking field goals instead of scoring touchdowns. I mean, anytime you get points, that's great, but especially in a game like this, you have to get in the endzone.
On Titus DavisTitus really stepped up today. It was anything that we did differently today; it's just how things played out. We don't really try to feed any one guy, but Titus was getting open and making plays, so we were getting him the ball. If we can continue to get that from him the rest of the year, that would be awesome, but at the same time, there's going to other games where other guys step up and make plays. Today, it was Titus.
On any frustration that he has from being in so many high scoring gamesTo an extent. Offensively, we want to be out there scoring a lot of points. We want to be out there scoring a lot of points. That's our goal. At the same time, there are times where we are putting the defense in poor situations where it is going to be tough for them to get a stop or the field gets flipped and they're in a tough spot. We need to help them out too while we are scoring a lot of points.
On how good this group of guys is at bouncing back from difficult lossesIt's unfortunate to say, but because of the last couple years, we've been in this situation before and there's no quit in these guys. There's no giving in or hanging their heads. They're going to come back in here tomorrow and work to get better and carry it on through the next week. The guys will never let down. That's never been an issue and I don't it ever will be here at Central.
On Courtney WilliamsI went over and talked to him for a little bit. I just told him that that's going to happen sometimes. I've been there and other guys have been there. I told him we need him to get his head in the game because we had a lot of football left and we had another two-minute drive coming up. He's obviously hurting because he didn't want to do that and he feels like he let some of the guys down. But like coach said, there were a bunch of other plays that could have also affected the game.
On the small miscues throughout the gameWe had miscues at inopportune times. Sometimes you can overcome that when you're in the open field and you have a little more room to work, but in the redzone, things become more confined and you have to be so much precise and your focus has to increase that much more. It's disappointing that we did not capitalize on those opportunities in a game like this.
