November 8, 2012Chippewa big man Zach Saylor scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds in CMU's win over Lake Superior State on Wednesday night. He addressed the media after the game.
On his play tonight
Well, the biggest thing we wanted to do was to get our offense going. We've been working really hard on getting our motion sets and getting cutters to execute those things in the game. Just to be able to do things that we have been working on since August.
On if his confidence is at its highest level ever
Yeah I was just trying to take my time down low, but at the same time work through the offense and to just be patient when I have the ball. I didn't want to rush. I just wanted to let things happen.
On where the team needs to improve
Rebounding is one thing we can improve on. Free throws and shooting as well, but other than that, we just need to come back in tomorrow for our next practice and go at it again.
On the game plan in this game
We just wanted to be a high, up-tempo team. That's what we are. We lack size, but we make it up with our team speed. We like to run the floor.
On the crowd
That was actually great. This is my fifth year here and I haven't seen a fan turnout like that in a long time. That helps win games and this is a fan base where people are involved and love basketball. It just makes us want to play hard.
On playing against former teammate Jordan Myrick
It was cool. I saw him out at warm ups and said hi to him. It's funny because last year I was playing with him and going through the season. Now I'm playing against him. We wished each other the best of luck after the game as well.
