Hood planning follow-up trip to Ole Miss

Knoxville, Tenn., standout Daniel Hood isn't giving much away when it comes to his recruiting.

He's not officially ruling anyone out or in as he evaluates a list of offers that includes Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Ole Miss, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.

"Nothing's really changed or anything," the soft-spoken Hood said. "It's been the same ole."

Hood, a three-star offensive lineman in Rivals.com's rankings, will play offensive tackle, tight end and defensive end this season at Catholic High School.

"I'll be covering most of them," Hood said. "This season will be my first season actually playing tight end. I'm going to see how I do. I think I can see myself doing that."

That could be good news for Ole Miss, as the Rebels are recruiting the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Hood to play tight end in Oxford. More good news for the Rebels is that while Hood hasn't "narrowed it down to anybody or made it official to which schools I'm going to take officials," it appears Ole Miss is high on his list and in good shape to get a visit this fall.

"They're still really good," Hood said of Ole Miss' standing in the race for his services. "I've been talking to my dad. We're looking forward to making it down to a game this season in Oxford."

Hood, who indicated he will likely attend the Rebels' home contests against South Carolina (Oct. 4) or Auburn (Nov. 1), visited Ole Miss unofficially in July.

"I still like everything about it," Hood said. "It's a beautiful campus. I love the way the coaches coach. It's all positive. It's none of that up in your face, cussing you out stuff. That's probably what I like most, what sticks out."

While Ole Miss is clearly in the mix, the Rebels will have plenty of competition.

"I talk to Auburn a lot," Hood said. "I also talk to Ole Miss a lot. Florida State, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech are some others I catch myself talking to."

Previously this summer, Hood told Warchant.com that he planned to take one of his official visits to Florida State. No date for the trip to Tallahassee has been determined. Hood will be a full academic qualifier.
