Eastern Michigan postgame: Andrew Flory
Chippewa wide receiver Andrew Flory addressed the media after Saturday's win over to rival Eastern Michigan, a game in which he had nine catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
On his game today
Our leading wide receiver Titus Davis came down with an ankle injury in the first quarter, so I had to take over for him. I've been prepping for it and I knew my time was going to come and I just took advantage of it.
On what he has being doing to keep himself sharp
Just staying mentality ready and knowing that my number could be called anytime. Titus and I have been going back and forth battling and he has been having a heck of a year so far. I'm just lucky to get in there and do what I did today.
On what it means to get two victories in the last three weeks
It means a lot. We have worked very hard. Eastern Michigan took this as a rivalry game, so we wanted to come in and treat it like that as well. We wanted to come here and get a win.
On being looked at in the goal line so many times
They really believed in me. The coaches tell me that week in and week out. I got the call today and I came up with it. I'm glad they called my number down there.
On being down two touchdowns early
We kept ourselves in the game. It was really fluke stuff at the start of the game, but we stayed strong and just finished out with a victory.
On what Titus was saying to him during the game
I know we are both second-year players, but that is my big brother. He is always out there playing. He coached me up on some things, but that is my big brother so he kept me feeling good.
On what allowed him to be successful today
Our receiving coach really makes us work on technique. They showed us everything, from man-to-man to cover 3 and we worked on all that during practice, so we were ready for it.
On bowl eligibility still being alive
That's what we talk about everyday in practice. The coaches tell us we are still working for that bowl and not to worry about the losses and the wins, just win the rest of our games and we will still make it to that bowl game.
