Big games in Greater Houston

Big games around Houston: Week 9
Klein Oak @ Spring Westfield, George Stadium, Friday 7:30
Preview: Westfield (6-2) has consistently been one of the best teams in Houston over the past few seasons. The Mustangs are known for defense but the tragic death of linebacker Herman Mitchell prior to the season took a key piece of the puzzle away. Klein Oak (8-0) is unbeaten and represents the best chance for a team to dethrone Westfield as district champs. Terrence Robinson has been one of the most electrifying players in Houston, lining up at QB, RB and WR. He teams with Texas commit DeSean Hales to make the Panther offense almost unstoppable.
Other Top Prospects: Brodrick Brown, Nick Sampson, Jonathan Gimm, Brenel Myers, Clint Naron, Ossam Cook
Katy @ Alief Elsik, Crump Stadium, Friday 7:00
Preview: Katy (8-0) is the no. 1-ranked team in the state of Texas and uses UCLA RB commit Aundre Dean as its workhouse on the ground. QB Bo Levi Mitchell gets it done through the air as well with Terrence Avie being his top target. Kansas State commit Trent Hunter is exceptional on defense and in the return game as well as limited time at RB. Elsik (3-5) is led by Texas RB commit Jeremy Hills. The Rams rely heavily on Hills to lead the way.
Other Top Prospects: Emmanuel Aluko, Charlie Jones, Ryan Doerr, Eric Ball, Brad Graham, Terrance Henry
Dayton @ Nederland, Bulldog Stadium, Friday 7:00
Preview: Dayton (5-3) took a huge hit when junior QB Cody Green was lost for the season. However, do-it-all junior A.J. Dugat has helped lead the Broncos to remain in contention for the district championship. Nederland (7-1) came into the season with the defense expected to be the strength behind Texas LB commit Dravannti Johnson. However, the passing game is hitting on all cylinders with junior receiver Asa Cardenas tallying 55 catches and 11 TD's so far.
Other Top Prospects: Paul Fontenot, Ford Smesny, Chris Gutierrez
Cypress Ridge @ Houston Strake Jesuit, Crusader Stadium, Friday 7:30
Preview: Strake Jesuit (7-1) has been one of the biggest surprises in Houston. Crusader QB Jeff McVaney has hit WR Davis Burck for 15 TD's. The defense is led by Oklahoma DE commit David King. Cy Ridge (7-1) features two of the most electrifying juniors in the state in QB Russell Shepard and RB Hasan Lipscomb. This game could very well determine the district 17-5A champion.
Other Top Prospects: Royce Hill, Joseph Williams
Aldine Eisenhower @ Aldine High, Thorne Stadium, Friday 7:30
Preview: Eisenhower (5-3) is one a five-game winning streak after opening the season 0-3. The Eagles have a vaunted passing game led by junior QB Kenny Guiton. He has three solid targets in juniors Jazmon Reynolds, Greg Timmons and Curtis McGregor. The defense is led by Texas A&M DT commit Rod Davis and junior S Craig Loston. Aldine (3-5) has been a bit disappointing but the offense can be high-powered. LSU QB commit Darron Thomas has big USC OL commit Daniel Campbell blocking for him.
Other Top Prospects: Anthony Lewis, Clyde Green, Darius Willis
Houston Stratford @ Aldine Nimitz, Thorne Stadium, Saturday 6:00
Preview: Stanford QB commit Andrew Luck leads Stratford (6-2) in a must-win game if the Spartans want to repeat as district champions. Luck has passed for almost 1,700 yards and rushed for 500 more on the season. Nimitz (6-2) also still has a slim shot at the district title. The Cougar offense is led by athlete Michael Thomas who lines up at QB and RB. The defense is anchored by speedy DB Ray Anthony Long.
Other Top Prospects: Jimmy Burge, Ben Bredthauer, Terrence Lloyd
