Former Virginia Tech wide receiver Kalil Pimpleton announced on Twitter Saturday afternoon that he would be transferring to Central Michigan University.
Pimpleton, originally from Muskegon High School, was an all-around athlete in his prep years before appearing in five games for the Hokies as a freshman last season. At Muskegon he was an all-around athlete, playing quarterback, wide receiver and could be found carrying the ball out of the backfield a lot as well.
Sources confirmed Saturday night that Pimpleton had signed his transfer letter as the Chippewas staff continued it's recruitment for the class of 2018.
If eligible to play right away, Pimpleton will add some much needed experience to a wide receiver group that will be a bit depleted next season. But the way the offense is changing, he will fit right in as another quick-footed athlete that can take a bubble screen 60 yards for a touchdown.
The Chippewas are getting faster, more athletic, and have a 6-foot, 7-inch quarterback ready to take the reigns. Pimpleton will add a new dynamic as someone who can do it all for the Chippewas, similar to what Jonathan Ward showed this season as he broke out in a big way.
The best part about this transfer is that he's got multiple years of eligibility left, and won't be another one-and-done with the program.
More details on what Pimpleton brings along with the rest of the 2018 recruits to follow after early signing period next week.
