The WMU Rivals site had a thread earlier this week asking what this rivalry meant to their fans. I liked the idea, but they only had one response, so I'm going to ask something different. I want to know what the top moments are, in your minds, in this rivalry in the past five years, 10 years, 25 years, since the birth of the rivalry. Go as far back as you want. Rank a top three, five, ten or however many you want.

Both teams are struggling this year. In my mind, all that means is that the game means more to each team. CMU does have an outside shot at a bowl game if they can win the game and WMU will be bowl eligible if they win out. Even before I came to CMU, I always knew that this was one of the most underrated in the country and might be the best rivalry in the MAC. That opinion has only gotten stronger in the last three years.

Part of my reasoning here is that I'm still a lot fresher to the CMU community than many of you. This will only be the third CMU-WMU game that I experience and will only be the first time that I take part in some of the other ahem...cough, cough...activities surrounding the game. A lot of you have seen more than your fair share of games in this rivalry. What are your top moments in this rivalry through the years?

My biggest moment was watching coach horsehead smiling on his sideline at Mt. Pleasant when he thought his cows were heading in for the winning score with less than a minute left in 2010.  THEN his back fumbles and we recover at the 3 yard line.  Favored cows lose again.  Love it when a coach chalks one up before it's over then gets smacked down, especially a cow coach.

It's the 2007 game at Western for me. CMU fighting for the MAC West again, 48 combined 4th quarter points. We looked to have control of the game late, but a TD from WMU followed by a rare sack and fumble from LeFevour which led to another TD allowed WMU to jump in front. LeFevour did what he did best and that's march down the field. The long pass and tough catch by Anderson put as at the doorstep. It took more than 1 attempt to get the ball in on the QB sneak, but ultimately LeFevour got in the endzone.

Just a great game that exploded into a shootout in the 4th quarter.

Both of those are great, I remember the 10 game I was standing next to Robbie Harmen (name drop) and we were in the corner of that end zone and we both yelled fumbled and we got the ball at the same time and just starting jumping up and down together, it was a wonderful moment. I loved the game, I want to say 04, we were down 21-7 with just over 3 mins to play, it was a cold and raining day. We scored, then western fumbled, we scored again, and after a missed fg by them, we hit a game winner in O,T, we rushed the field and forgot all about the cold, it was a great celebration... also 05 and 07 winning at their place was wonderful! Proud to be a Chippewa

The 07 LeFevour sneak is the best for me...in terms of overall entertainment, this game is second only to the MSU victory.  The best part?  Listening to Bronco nation cry their eyes out years afterward
