There were still five CMU commits that were in action in state semifinals this weekend. There weren't enough kids left on teams that were playing to warrant a full article, but I still wanted to post something here. Here is a look at the results from their games over the weekend.

Zach Crouch, TE/DE, Grand Rapids Christian: Crouch caught two touchdown passes, one from 20 yards out and one from 13 yards, as the Eagles beat DeWitt, 52-28, to advance to the MHSAA Division 4 state championship. Grand Rapids Christian built up a 52-7 lead after three quarters and cruised to a big win. The Eagles will take on Detroit Country Day at 7:30 on Friday night for the state title.

Derek Edwards, OL/DL, Detroit Catholic Central: Edwards and the offensive line led the way for Shamrock runners to rush for over 130 yards against Rockford on the way to a 35-6 victory. Detroit Catholic Central will take on Detroit Cass Tech in the MHSAA Division 1 state championship on Saturday at 1:00 in a rematch of last year's title game.

Joe Ostman, LB/TE, St. Ignace (Mich.) La Salle: Ostman had a team-leading 18 tackles on defense and had two receptions for 13 yards on offense, but the Saints lost to Beal City, 25-7, in the Division 8 semifinals. The loss was La Salle's first of the season and they finished with a record of 12-1 in 2012.

Jeff Perry, RB/LB/S, Morris (Ill.): Perry had 11 carries for 119 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with a 15-yard reception and five tackles, as the Redskins beat Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, 30-20, in the IHSA 5A state semifinals. Morris plays Lombard Montini on Saturday at 10:00 am for the state championship.

JP Quinn, OL, Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley: Quinn and the offensive line led the way for senior running back Joey Rhattigan to rush for 76 yards on 20 carries, but the Wildcats lost in the IHSA 8A semifinals to Chicago Mt. Carmel, 26-21. The loss was Neuqua Valley's first loss of the season and they finished 2012 with a record of 12-1.
